Moonlight Gourami

Everything you need to know about Moonlight Gouramis, at a glance:

Common Names: Moonbeam Gourami

Scientific Name: Trichopodus microlepis

Max Size: ~15cm

Temperature Range: 23-30 °C

pH Range: 6-7, benefit from slightly soft/acidic conditions

Compatibility: Generally peaceful, though can be aggressive when breeding; also avoid stocking with long-finned fish as they could become easy targets for nipping

Plant Safe: Yes

Area Of Origin: Cambodia; Mekong River basin

Suitable Foods: Omnivorous, offer variety of flakes/pellets formulated for community fish, as well as occasional live/frozen foods such as bloodworms, white mosquito larvae, and brineshrimp

Special Requirements: Best kept in small mixed groups containing males and females (1 male per 2 females), prefer gentle water movement, provide lots of hiding places in the form of rocks, wood, and dense vegetation

Unless experienced with fish-in cycling, we always suggest cycling an aquarium BEFORE adding fish. Adding fish to a fresh, un-cycled aquarium can kill them rapidly. We offer free water testing at our physical location, and advice via email or call.
