Ornate Wood Turtle - Baby
The Ornate Wood Turtle (Rhinoclemmys pulcherrima), also known as the Central American Wood Turtle, is a colorful turtle found in the forests of Costa Rica and Nicaragua.

Lifespan: ~25 years
Terrarium Size: 55 gallons is suitable for babies and juveniles, though a 4'x4'x2' enclosure is recommended for fully-grown specimens.
Terrarium Set-Up: Semi-Aquatic. Substrate should be deep enough to facilitate burrowing behaviours, and should retain humidity well. The turtle should have access to a water area that they can fully submerge themselves in.
Humidity: 90% - 100%
Heating and Lighting: Ambient air temperature should not drop below 75 degrees Fahrenheit. A basking spot of 90 degrees Fahrenheit must be provided during the day. UVB lighting must be available during daytime hours.
Diet: Should be fed daily. Their diet consists of 60% plant matter (duckweed, dandelion, arugula, bok choy, collard greens), 30% animal matter (earthworms, superworms, crickets, roaches, shrimp, fish), and 10% fruit (berries, apple, banana). Their food should be sprinkled daily with a calcium and vitamin supplement.
